Advanced Living Communities Broadens Outreach Beyond Affordable Retirement Living

Service Providers, Lenders, and Local Municipalities Help Make a Women’s Dreams Come True.

6/23/2014 Lansdale, PAAdvanced Living Communities, a leader in the affordable housing industry, proudly announces the dedication of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County’s (HFHMC) newest home to a former resident. The event, which will be held on Friday, June 6 at 3:00 pm at 140 Penn Street, in Hatfield is open to the public. There will be a short home dedication ceremony followed by home tours.

While generally known as a provider of affordable housing for seniors, Advanced Living refurbished a vacant building in Lansdale Borough and began offering transitional housing to those at risk for homelessness in 2012. This project was launched as one component of Montgomery County’s Roadmap for Housing Stability plan intended to transform emergency and supportive services for those in need of affordable housing. This is an exciting opportunity for Advanced Living to extend its reach beyond serving seniors and support the revitalization efforts underway in the Lansdale area.

The highlight of the dedication will include an introduction to the family that has worked so hard to achieve a dream of home ownership which could not have been possible without the partnership of several service providers, lenders and municipalities including Keystone Opportunity Council and Your Way Home. Thrivent Financial, Procurian, SKF, Montgomery County and the Borough of Hatfield will also be recognized for their role in this success story.

Construction for this home began in late summer 2013 and hundreds of group and individual volunteers, led by dedicated volunteer leaders from Montgomery County Thrivent Chapters have been involved in this effort. The family who will reside in this home also contributed more than 200 hours of sweat equity and attended Cornerstone educational workshops to provide them with basic home-repair knowledge in order to become self-sufficient home owners.

Generous material donations helped build this home in a timely manner and at an affordable price. This family purchased the home with a no-interest loan and their monthly mortgage payments will be used to build more Habitat houses in Montgomery County.
